I am an 19 year old from Andover, Massachusetts, currently in my freshman year at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I have made this website to showcase my various interests.
I have always liked building things, physical things, working with my hands. As a kid I loved Legos, and as I grew older, my dad taught me how to use the tools in his workshop. I also love skiing, so with my brothers I started making rails out of PVC and wood. To film our skiing, I crafted camera cranes, stabilizers, and even a remote-control camera zip line. I tend to build things that solve a problem, even if that problem is just for entertainment. I also like art and creating things that are interesting and visually appealing. In my opinion how something looks and feels is just as important as its function.
I discovered that I was interested in art at a young age. An art teacher in middle school really inspired me and I began staying after school to work on various projects. At first, I focused on drawing. I found evening lessons where I learned how to use charcoal and pastels. During summers I attended drawing intensives at the MFA. I explored different media as well, taking glass blowing classes at Diablo Glass School, and working with clay in my school's pottery studio. I won a silver key in the Boston Scholastic Art Competition for a ceramic angler fish. Drawing remains my primary interest, and now in my free time I work in a studio I have set up in my home.
Athletics have always been a big part of my life. I tried out many different sports when I was younger and eventually settled on lacrosse, football, skiing, and diving. I am currently on the varsity football, lacrosse, and dive teams at Phillips Academy. I also play for the Top Gun Fighting Clams, a club lacrosse team out of Massachusetts.
